How Does This Work?
We want to hear more of the everyday stories that make WNY the “City of Good Neighbors.” We believe being a Good Neighbor begins by being a Neighbor of Character.
We are looking for stories in the form of nominations of individuals, families, businesses, organizations and schools for demonstrating an act or actions of character.

The Fine Print
Nominations for a single trait will be accepted for the entire month the trait is highlighted. The Character Council of WNY will choose up to three nominations per category to be recognized on the City of Good Neighbors Website and Facebook Page.
Only nominations submitted through the website will be considered. Awards winners will be notified the following month. Nominee needs to live or work within the 8 counties of WNY.

The City of Good Neighbors and the Character Council of WNY exist to serve our community by fostering and celebrating the development of positive character, because excellence in character is the foundation for personal and community success.
Our Story
In the fall of 2000, our community of Hamburg, New York launched a town-wide character initiative, championed, coordinated and resourced by the Character Council of Hamburg, Inc.. After celebrating ten years of service, the Fall of 2010 was marked by an expanded commitment, inviting the Western New York Region to join us in our mission, “Creating a Culture of Character,” within individual communities.
Now, approaching our 20th year in existence, and out of a desire to create more awareness of the benefits of good character, recognize the many ways our community and it’s citizens exemplify a “City of Good Neighbors,” and increase community engagement in our endeavor, we decided to connect our organization with the “City of Good Neighbors.”
What better time than the present, as our organization approaches it’s 20th year anniversary, to celebrate “all things good” and the wonderful community we all have the privilege to live in.
